Join me for a workshop all about ekphrasis on April 30th!
I deliver workshops for a living. I write as a passion project. But I’ve never combined the two… Until now! I’m very excited to facilitate my first writing workshop ever—a by-donation event at the Dart Gallery in downtown Dartmouth.
Close out poetry month with me and come learn the origins of ekphrasis, the different approaches and styles, and some tips and tricks. We'll study some examples (provided in advance) and write our own ekphrastic poems. Participants will independently explore the gallery, select a work of art that resonates with them, and write a poem about it. There will be the option to share work towards the end.
If available, a local artist whose work is displayed at the gallery may be in attendance to discuss one of their pieces currently on display.
The event is generously hosted by the Dart Gallery, a community-focused art gallery and event space that aims to support and strengthen the local arts community and the community at large. The gallery entrance is accessible. There are two steps to the washroom--which your hosts are happy to help you with if needed.
